The peak water quantity of Shenzhen Nanshan Water Purification Plant during the rainy season has exceeded the original plant load, so it is urgent to expand the treatment scale. In this project, six unused radial-flow primary sedimentation tanks with a diameter of 45 meters were reconstructed into RPIR ponds in situ, and upgraded them to treatment facility with biochemical treatment functions, with a treatment scale of 176,000m³/d after expansion. The effluent quality follows the first grade A standard of the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (GB18918-2002).
Project Highlights:
1. The existing sedimentation tank is made full used to meet the expansion needs without adding new land;
2. The primary physical and chemical treatment function is upgraded to the secondary biochemical treatment function in situ,, achieving stable treatment performance and water quality that meets or exceeds the first grade A standard.
