Shenzhen Guanlan River Estuary detention tank is located in Longhua District. The original project adopts the primary enhanced process, covering an area of 32700 m³. Due to the poor water quality of Guanlan River, the Shenzhen Municipal Government proposes to upgrade and reconstruct the detention tank. According to the multidisciplinary approach, the project finally adopts the RPIR process with less floor area, and the process flow is “pretreatment + RPIR biochemistry + magnetic coagulation sedimentation + ultraviolet disinfection”. After the reconstruction, the maximum treatment scale of the detention tank is 150000 m³/d in the dry season and 250000 m³/d in the rainy season. The quasi-class IV standard in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002) is implemented in the dry season, and the quasi-class V standard in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002) is implemented in the rainy season.
Project Highlights:
1. The construction period is short, taking only 133 days from the awarding of the bid to the start of operation;
2. The floor area is small, with all facilities covering an area of only 16,200 m², the peak ton of water covering an area of 0.065 m², and the maximum ton of water covering an area of 0.1 m²;
3. This project is the first RPIR project with a scale of more than 200,000 tons, and the first detention tank having biochemical treatment function and reaching the class IV surface water discharge standard has been built.
