A Space-saving, Cost-effective and cutting-edge rapid purification sewage treatment plants to deal with overflow pollution: Shenzhen Baihuahe Detention Tank Sewage Treatment Station Service Project

What is the perilous challenge we're currently facing? It's the alarming issue of overflow pollution, a crisis that's not only widespread in China but is also a predicament in Southeast Asia. This crisis poses serious threats to our environment and health. However, China, spearheading the battle against this menace, has taken remarkable steps. One of these significant initiatives is the acceleration of the construction of cutting-edge rapid purification sewage treatment facilities. Today, we journey into the Shenzhen Baihuahe Detention Tank Sewage Treatment Station Service Project. This project stands as a beacon of hope, a testament to the Chinese government's exemplary performance in combating this environmental crisis.

The Shenzhen Baihuahe Detention Tank Sewage Treatment Station is a sub-project of the Guangming District Black and Odorous Water Body Removal Treatment Project. This project's goal is to intercept the initial rainwater of the main Baihua River stream into a detention tank and pump it to a decentralized sewage treatment facility during off-peak times. Simultaneously, the domestic sewage in this area is directly connected to the treatment facility.

This station has the capacity to treat fifteen thousand cubic meters of water per day, reaching an effluent standard equivalent to quasi-class IV surface water. The detention tank's effective volume is twenty thousand cubic meters. The sewage treatment station's core biochemical section employs the A/RPIR process, achieving a treatment capacity designed at fifteen thousand cubic meters per day. The effluent TN and SS follow the first grade A standard in the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the remaining indexes follow the class IV standard in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water.

Incredibly, just half a month after the project's completion and operation, the river channel was clear, the egrets returned, and the ecological reconstruction saw its initial success.

So, what makes this project so special? The adoption of the A/RPIR process saves both land and investment, and also reduces operating costs. This project has adopted a comprehensive management model of a detention tank and a high-standard treatment station, achieving pollution interception at the source. The treated water that reaches the standard is discharged back into the river, playing a crucial role in ecological water supplementation.

The Shenzhen Baihuahe Detention Tank Sewage Treatment Station Service Project is a testament to the effectiveness of rapid purification sewage treatment facilities. It's a cost-effective, space-saving solution that requires a short construction period and straightforward operation and maintenance. It represents a new era of environmentally conscious, efficient, and effective sewage treatment, setting a benchmark for future projects to follow. In conclusion, the acceleration of constructing rapid purification sewage treatment facilities is a viable solution to China's overflow pollution problem. The Shenzhen Baihuahe Detention Tank Sewage Treatment Station Service Project is a shining example of the significant benefits that can be reaped from such an initiative. It's not just about treating sewage; it's about preserving our environment and ensuring a sustainable future for all.
